Oh dear But no worry

Postby DaleTerrier » "Wed Mar 03, 2010 12:16 am"

Let's start with oh dear.

Obviously a poor display but at the end of the day first defeat in 2010! (unless you include F.A.Cup)

If we'd have lost 1-0 the same points would have been lost or won.

Southampton are a very good side and these things happen.

Still 12 games to go so plenty of points to play for.

Lee Clarke is not a happy man and rightly so after tonight. And how nice it is to see a manager give is side some stick to actually say they were poor rather than stick up for them and say we were unlucky.

The furture still looks bright.

So for a change let's keep positive on this forum.

End of the day 0 points for the first time this year.

Up the Terriers

7 goals conceded in two games I'm not worried!, I'm baffled as to Lee Clarkes team selection. The back four are not as solid as he thinks, unless Peltier is the key?.

It is difficult to stay optimistic with such a defeat, and Charlton, Norwich still to play along with other teams who have shocked us in the past.

Let's hope we can bounce back on Saturday.

Or on the other hand only 5 conceded in the previous 9.

Obviously (hopefully) last night was just one of those nights. We've done it ourselves on a few occasions this season.

Your right about Saturday that'll be the test in seeing how the team respond.

Although I never saw a defeat of this magnitude coming, I must admit that I expected a tough match and would have gladly settled for a single point in advance.

However, the true test will be to see how the team reacts to this set back in the next game against Gillingham. If they manage to take all 3 points, I will soon forget what happened at Southampton with the added consolation that we easily turned them over on our own patch.

Southampton on a tue night 3 days after a derby was always going to be a tough match, But to lose 5-0 with the squad we have? lets hope they've all had the hairdrier treament. We need to bounce back on sat with a good win 2-0 or 3-0 and send a clear message out to Norwich Charlton Millwall and Colchester you've all got to play on our turf we know these are all 6 pointers and were not prepaired to roll over just yet.

This is where being a realist/pessimist comes in handy. I fully expected Soton to stuff us, maybe not by 5, but I'm not surprised. I'm still up from Town having got more points in Feb than I thought! Although, I expect another tough game on Saturday with other top 7 teams having fairly comfortable games. Gillingham having only won one less game at home than Soton. So it could look less positive on Saturday.

just browsing and realised that we have now conceded 9 goals in three games!, is it a coincidence that since Danny d has been in midfield, and Trotters in defence we are more vulnerable?.

Think I'm going to after agree with you on this one.

Trotter watching the highlights from Saturday didn't do the simple things yet again.

He doesn't look as though he can clear a ball to save his life for whatever reason. He slices more than Warburton's do.

Not too sure about D D though maybe it could be time for a change in that department.

Kay doesn't seem to do much but I think he's one of those players you don't really notice until he's not playing then you miss him.

Maybe a bit more steel from T Clarke or attacking options of M Collins or just maybe J Berrett a go???

One thing is for sure Nathan Clarke is no worse than Trotter and I said in my last post was looking very solid in the reserves.
