Town v Leeds

Postby Mo2008 » "Sat Feb 27, 2010 6:24 pm"

What can I say, a terrific performance by both teams, a full blooded game, a true Derby game,
Honestly I never thought I'd say this but Trotman had a great game, as for the rest cannot fault anyone.
The referee was the best seen at the Galpharm this season, did'nt make too many mistakes, and was'nt taken in by Beckfords tricks and Snodgrasses whinging,
Well done lads I'd love to be able to go to Southhampton but work commitments stop me and I've no leave left.
Once again well done!".

Listened to game on radio and it sounded like a good game with a draw a fair result.
Leeds will be promoted automatically, but doubt Huddersfield will make top six as I think Millwall will pinch 6th spot. Defeat at Southhampton will follow on Tuesday and the inevitable "down" will come after the "cup final" today.

Niven.

You are obviously a very deluded "stay at home" Leeds Fan. Our cup final day will come later at Wembley, when we meet your lot in the play-off's and we all know how much you like these sort of games, dont we.

I don't know, you sneak a draw against us and seem to forget that you have now failed to beat us in your last five attempts, with a pifling return of only 2 points out of the 15 available.

10 points from your last 10 games, compared to our 20 points from 10 games, sums up the current difference in quality between both sides. If Leeds continue to average a point/game, then you'll finish up with 80 points, which should just about earn you a play-off spot, and if Town maintain their 2 points/game average, then we wiil end up with 84 points.

See you at Wembley, when we are bound to increase your miserable run against us to 6 games without a win. Pity we won't be meeting you next year when we are in the Chapionship League.

PS: What sort of fan are you anyway, sat at home on your ar-e, when you should be supporting your team, at your biggest game of the season?.

It did sound like a cracking game on the radio ( i have an excuse i'm 3500 miles away ) its a game that could have gone either way.
if town can play the rest of the season out like this we'll make the playoffs for sure. southampton on tuesday are going to be a stiff test we just have to keep our shape and play our game , they are a far better team than their position suggests , if not for a points deductions they would be up in the mix with us.

hopefully pelts will be fit, it was not a good sign him going off like that.hes been one of our most consistent players this season and loosing him for some games would hurt.

Yes it was a great game Town dominated the first half making Leeds look like a blue square side at times. when we went 2-1 down i'd of taken the draw but to say a draw was fair? no way Leeds had 3 good chances and scored twice town had at least 7 good chances. the moral of the story is better defending in future boys.

Playing Huddersfield Town isn't a big game for Leeds or "a cup final". There are more big games ie Charlton, Norwich and Milwall. I understand that the Leeds game is the big one for you as witnessed by your biggest crowd of the season, but you still couldn't sell all your tickets.
As for not going to the game I couldn't get a ticket. Maybe if Leeds had received more tickets, the ground could have been full.
Demand for tickets for Leeds away games is always high, so don't flatter yourself that the large Leeds following came specifically to watch Huddersfield.
And regarding your mathematics, haven't you got anything better to do?
All the bitterness comes from your side, Leeds don't feel the same way. Which is something you can't work out.
If Huddersfield come up via the playoffs, fair play to you. It doesn't bother me. You will be joining Leeds in the Championship.

All the bitterness comes from our side ...Niven have you been onto the 606 board the past 2 days, half the recent articles are wind ups from Leeds fans, or complaints ,blown way out of proportion about a few idiot, not "real" town fans.
and if a local derby agsint a team who up in the promotion race with you isnt a big game then why were all 4000 tickets sold out and why are you even on OUR board talking about it and why has the HUDDERSFIELD 606 board been inundated by leeds fans for days .

Seems as though I've hit a "raw nerve" with my mathmatical facts and you can't accept that we are the in-form team at the moment and are also your bogie team, who you can't ever seem to get the better off.

Of course the Leeds game is a big one - it's a LOCAL DERBY and carries the same interest as all the other local derby's up and down the country. I don't know what your particular yardstick is for measuring what constitutes a big game and so perhaps you can enlighten me, since I note that you have also included Millwall, who struggle to attract gates over 10,000 and are followed in the main by a bunch of hooligans.

I don't understand your silly comment " so don't flatter yourself that the large Leeds following came specifically to watch Huddersfield" as I would hope they came to watch and support their own side, as all Town fans do when they travel away.

Finally, what have we got to be bitter about regarding Leeds - seems to me it's the other way round in your particular case.

Mirfielder,

I believe playing the likes of Charlton and Norwich constitute a bigger game than playing Huddersfield. Whether Leeds fans have been winding Town fans up on other websites I don't know, but this fixture isn't as important to most Leeds fans as it is to you, whether you care to believe that or not.
You have indeed got the better of us in the fixtures since we've been in League 1, but as you're below Leeds in the league it matters very little apart from your bragging rights. And if you're still in league1 at the end of the season it will matter even less. I'm not losing any sleep over it! Really!
We shall see if your mathematical predictions prove correct. Certainly if you get 84 points you would be very close to automatic promotion, but I think your prediction of 80 for Leeds is a bit low and probably a bit of wishful thinking on your part, or clutching at straws.
Things change very quickly in football. I would certainly like a wager with you!

Mirfielder,

I think you're going to have to re-calculate your mathematics regarding your promotion/play-off theory,
Judgeing by the thrashing you got off Southampton tonight.
You obviously thought you couldn't get automatic promotion, when you proposed the theory that you would be playing Leeds in the play-off final and beating us again!
I also consider Southampton a great rival, and if not for their points deduction, I'm quite certain they would have been challenging for automatic promotion.
At least you can cherish the thought of your unbeaten run against Leeds!

You are right what you say about Southampton and just thank your lucky stars, otherwise it would have been them and Norwich for the auto promotion places and Leeds for a play off spot at best.

I can't deny it was a thrashing, but it was only marginally worse than your recent thumping at Swindon and after all, one defeat in the last eleven games is still a far better return than your lot could muster.

Have no fear, we will bounce back against Gillingham on Saturday and in the meantime lets look forward to see how your lot fares against the Saints in 10 days time, when hopefully it will be your turn to eat some humble pie.

Niven, I held a season tickets at Leeds in the glory days, and let it go when you sacked Clough, can you remember that?.
I think it is about time that Leeds fans forgot the old days and stopped saying we do not belong in this division, because that is where you are, I work in Leeds and get fed up of these type of comments, come on face facts you are in this division because you deserve to be!
